Banksy -Village pet Store and Charcoal grill

If you are in the village and have some time check out the Village pet store and Charcoal Grill. This installation was great. The imagery and the commentary about how we treat animals made you think of the ways in everyday life you are unwittingly abusing animals. Just to see the reactions of passers-by and hear the comments about what they were seeing. While I was there one woman asked her friend "why would the bunny be putting on that shit- is that real? bunnies can't file their nails-that can't be real" it was worth it just for the look on her face.

On the topic of things I covet

This started with the print on the chair done Phil Barlow for Bradley Hughes.
You can see where I ended up. To my defense I think the overall tone of this has something to do with it being Monday.

Website Project just finished-Client American Building of Chicago

For American Building of Chicago. I used the blueprint theme and a the rough feel of construction work to guide this design. ITs a CSS site with a basic flash slideshows and some galleries. I think it turned out quite well. Now go and call them if you have a remodeling/construction project in the Chicagoland area!!

I didn't realize Hammer Pants were trending for Winter 08

This sporty sweat suit version makes this trend even MORE ridiculous!

Hand bound Camo Journal

This is a journal I made at the request of one of my friends. Usually I make journals that are a little on the feminine side, so decidedly this one had to man up a bit. I recycled a pair of used and abused camo cargos to make the cover, I used a belt loop and inside out fabric to make the strap and trimmed it with a nickel button. It is hand-bound with cotton embroidery floss . The pages are post consumer recycled paper. I hope he likes it!

Baby Blanket

Here are some phots of a baby blanket I made for a friend for her beautiful newborn baby girl.
I made her shower invitations in a lamb theme so I decided to follow suit with the blanket. It is made from cotton flannel, chenille, and satin embroidery thread.

Pre-fabulous housing

I am a fan of pre-fab housing. I would love to be able to buy a piece of land in the mountains and plop a nicely tailored and cozily designed pre-fab and call it a day.

The New York Times Arts Section has an interesting article online right now about the Moma exhibit starting on the the 20th called Home Delivery. Check out the mini slide show here.

The Chicago Spire

One of my favorite architects - Santiago Calatrava, is working on this audacious structure in Chicago. These renderings are sick, especially the one of the view form the 140th floor in the panorama section.

If you are ever in Milwaukee definitely visit the Milwaukee Art Museum to see another Calatrava creation.

Oooohhh boy-bands.

I remember back in 1989 when I was SO very excited to see NKOTB.  Joey was my favorite. This is ridiculous!  No one is going to admit to buying tickets for this,  they'll just run into their friends/closeted fan at the show and look at them sheepishly.  By the way, this is exactly how this scenario will play out for me.

Just browsing Thanks

I was just looking through the prints on Etsy and came across this one struck me. It's cute and spring-y.  Check this out here.

Holi festival

One spring I will be in India when this is going on. When else do you get to run around as a pantone color?? I hope some one sprays me with 226C.

NCAA tournament

For the record, I LOVE college basketball. I get WAY into the NCAA mens tournament and this year all my picks were destroyed. I will say that Memphis put on an amazing show and almost had me convinced they were going to win, and I don't not even like Memphis. They ran circles around my top pick UCLA, but in the end they couldn't pull it off against Kansas.

Happy Valentines Day!!

Non-related, I just bought this print from onefootinfront.com. Her illustration paired with the one liners is subtle, but pretty much dead on and the line work is great. I personally love this print especially because of the Breaking Away reference. So check out her other stuff!
They also offer letterpress cards on their etsy site. mmm letterpress.

Residence in Brazil

If I was ever to have a patch of land in a virtual paradise ( and no I do not consider Florida a paradise, well maybe semi) aside rolling hills of dense rainforest-like vegetation; secluded with no neighbors immediately next door. I would like a home that looks very similar to this, and yes I too would want a hammock in my living room. Imaging napping there!!
Check this architecture firm out- based in Brazil, for things to dream about.

Stelton Candlestick holders

I admired these when I was staying in Denmark but I never got around to picking them up. So finally I scored them on ebay, beautifully simple, stainless steel and actually very dainty. I think I'll put some obnoxious neon orange tapers in them.

Not that I am planning on vacationing there but if one were so inclined to make it to the middle east amongst the desolation of the desert and the luming mountain is this DOPE spot to stay at. gorgeous. Check this out and this site for alternative travel ideas, and some really great photos.  via been-seen.com

Sweet Site Design

Gosh, i havent written in a while.
It's Mid January and I think I'll have finally recovered for the holidays. my head is finally out of the clouds.

I'm thinking about a redesign of my website and blog so i've been doing some "research" ie. extensive web surfing
here is a site I found today that is a little much but.. I love the rich color and the concept.
I think I'm leaning towards something a little more simple, but check this out for some eye candy.

http://www.caiocaldas.com.br/

also has some nice logo work on it.
